The Doctress’ Office
Trusted Care.
Empowered by experience.
After years working and living in a system that doesn’t work for women, we’ve built the space where they can get the care they need and deserve. We’re curious, compassionate and kind. We’re not satisfied until you are.
We can’t wait to hear more about your health story.
Dr. Laura Mechefske, MD
Dr. Mechefske is a dedicated family physician and steadfast advocate for women’s wellness, in all its facets. A graduate of McMaster University’s medical program in 2014, she completed her Family Medicine Residency at Queen's University in 2016. She has extensive experience working as a family doctor in both Kingston and Ottawa, and now oversees Gender Affirming Care at the University of Ottawa's Student Health and Wellness Centre.
Her specialized women’s health practice is delivered with a Trauma-Informed Care approach, with deep expertise in 2SLGBTQ+ health, chronic pain management, mental health—particularly PTSD and sexual trauma-related conditions—chronic diseases, pregnancy, menopause, and healthy aging. The interrelatedness of these issues means that the conventional healthcare model of raising one issue at a time doesn’t serve most women well.
At The Doctress’ Office, Dr. Mechefske is able to help women navigate complex health issues with dignity and understanding, guided by compassion and evidence-based care.

Sarah Jamieson is a highly experienced and resourceful Registered Nurse and community leader. With more than a decade of hands-on clinical expertise, her advanced training includes certifications in telemetry, and experience in chemotherapy, pediatrics, breastfeeding support, dementia care, and managing advanced lines.

Dr. Katheron Intson, PhD
Kath Intson is a scientist dedicated to advancing women's health and addressing gender disparities in medical treatment. She earned her PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine, where she also served as a lecturer for several years. During her time at the university, Kath delivered annual lectures on gender and racial inequities in healthcare and successfully advocated for a pivotal policy change mandating the inclusion of female subjects in preclinical research at the Faculty of Medicine—an oversight that had long persisted.
Throughout her career, Kath has made significant contributions to medical science, serving as a Scientific Advisor to patient advocacy organizations and consulting on a range of critical areas, including clinical trial design, the development of new medicines, and providing scientific support to clinicians managing complex cases involving rare genetic diseases. Kath aims to transform her passion for precision medicine, evidence-based care, and the communication of unbiased medical research into advanced standards of care and exceptional patient outcomes.
